BUDDHA NATURE

The Work

What is Buddha Nature? Emptiness? This emptiness is not absolute nothingness. It is an absence of self-nature. Buddha never said that there is no self. He said that there is no self that is outside of all other selves. Self is not isolable. Dependent Co-Origination is the true meaning of Buddha Nature.

In creating the series, Buddha Nature, it is my goal to show that man is a part of nature. But the Zen tradition also emphasizes that Buddha nature is śūnyatā, the absence of an independent and substantial “self”. Intrinsically, we are all one thing. The universe is a whole. We are all a part of the whole. As John Donne once said,”No man is an island, entire of it self; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” We are all a part each other.

These are just a few examples from an extensive body of work. Customized lenticular and fine art prints are available.
